No. Nobody knows.
Nobody knows;
Not even your best friend knows the bind you're in.
Terre Roche

In our most quiet contemplative moments we each face the truth that we are essentially alone. Not even the people we hold close to us, whom we love and are loved by, know our most raw and vulnerable selves. The reason I photograph is to lessen my own struggle with this certainty.

I photograph my subjects in their personal living spaces, hoping to create a moment of exchange and reflection between us. As my subjects speak, I listen. I watch as they begin to relax. Through the act of photographing them, I want my subjects to know that they are being heard, acknowledged—and seen. Each image represents the impression a subject leaves upon me. It is a souvenir of my attempt to get as close as I can get.
